Jobless rate key to presidential election

The Island Now

The unemployment rate,  perhaps Obama’s and our country’s  greatest  problem may determine the winner in November.

I know that it was 7.7 percent  when he took office .

I know it has remained over 8 percent every month of his administration.

I know that at his  Inauguration,  he promised us a much lower rate if we would only follow his advice and pass his agenda.

I know that no sitting president has ever been re-elected with such numbers.

But don’t forget. This is Barack Obama. Idealized by his adoring fans, protected by most of the main-stream media, we don’t get the real picture of how bad our employment situation really is.

Unfortunately” for the administration,  the Department of Labor still releases it’s monthly unemployment and  it’s under-employment numbers. To make matters worse for our Fundraiser-In-Chief,  they actually get published in the Wall Street Journal.

What the heck is Steve M talking about? Many of you know “this stuff.”  already. But let’s go over it again anyway, especially if you are at a barbecue with your Llberal friends. That famous monthly unemployment rate ( June was 8.2 percent ) does not include the following:

1- people who have not looked for a job in the previous four weeks. And,

2- part-time workers who want full-time work.

Adding those to the unemployed number, gives us the “under-employed”, the real, accurate picture of the situation at hand.

What are those numbers?

When the unemployment rate was 8.5 percent, the under-employment rate was   15. percent.

Do not read further, unless you are either an Obama-supporter, “ no matter what “ or you are waiting for an emergency therapist appointment !

California : 11.2 percent unemployed, 20.3 percent under-employed.

Nevada: 12.2 percent unemployed, 22.1 percent under-employed

Michigan: 9.4 percent unemployed, 17.4 percent under-employed

I think you have heard enough.

Steve Israel told me that Obama  needs more time. Namcy  said it was the Tea Party’s  fault.  Chuck Schumer said the Republicans were the cause. Tim Bishop said we didn’t spend enough!. Gillibrand says Obama  deserves another term.

97 Days until November

We’ll see.
