Juried art set show to open

The Island Now

“Driven To Abstraction,” a new juried art show presented by the Huntington Arts Council, Main Street Gallery, goes on display from the Opening Reception on August 14 through August 29.

The Opening Reception is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Main Street Gallery, 213 Main Street, Huntington. All are welcome to attend.

“To my surprise, I was faced with an abundant and diverse amount of art, including many notable works,: said juror Deborah Katz, a Long Island native who is also an award-winning artist, curator and writer. “In jurying ‘Driven To Abstraction’ my intentions were to be as objective as possible and choose a variety and range of work demonstrating variations in abstraction. I also attempted to keep in mind a visually successful and cohesive exhibit. Aesthetically, I mainly considered the clarity of the piece, visual language and implementation of materials.
