Kansas carried by dust, wind to Westbury

Classic rock group Kanas will be celebrating 40 years in concert when they kick up some dust at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on Thursday, May 29 at 8 p.m.   

Perhaps best known for their 1978 hit, “Dust In the Wind,” Kansas released their self titled first album 40 Years ago in 1974.  

On their fourth album, Leftoverture, Kansas hit paydirt with the rock anthom “Carry On Wayward Son,” and followed with a slew of hits including “Point of Know Return,” “Portrait (He Knew)” “Play the Game Tonight” and “All I Wanted.”  Today, Kansas features original drummer Phil Ehart, original guitarist Rich Williams and original vocalist Steve Walsh, joined by bassist Billy Greer and well-known violinist David Ragsdale.
