Katz to headline museum fundraiser

The Island Now

Long Island’s Finest, a benefit to be held at Nassau County Museum of Art, will feature a talk by Alex Katz, the artist whose works from the Whitney Museum of American Art are presently on view at the museum. In addition to Katz’s talk, guests will also have the opportunity to meet and mingle with contemporary artists whose works are showcased in AftermodernisM, the exhibition now in the museum’s second floor galleries.

Long Island Finest: Fine art, fine food, fine wines, fine company is a gala evening of tastings from prominent area restaurants, caterers and wineries. The event is presented by members of the museum’s board of trustees, museum council, corporate committee, contemporary collectors circle and friends of the garden. All proceeds benefit educational programming at the museum.

The event takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person with opportunities for supporting specific education programs at a higher level. Among the supporter opportunities are Family Art Programs, Autism & the Arts, Adults with Memory Loss and Art Partners.
