Lake Success board approves fee increases

Village of Lake Success trustees unanimously voted Monday to increase fees for both residents and developers seeking permits to build in the village.

Village of Lake Success Mayor Ron Cooper said the fee increases were to keep the village on par with what other municipalities were charging building applicants.

“We are trying to keep up with rates throughout Long Island in other villages and municipalities,” Cooper said. “We have a lot of building going on in the village so that is what motivates this.”

Building permit fees for commercial applicants double from $1,000 to $2,000.

An additional fee of $300, Cooper said, would be charged for any alterations to building plans.

Building permit fees for new residential homes or buildings also doubled from $500 to $1,000.

Cooper said the fee increases would take effect after being filed with the Secretary of State.
