The Island Now

The Long Island Philharmonic will be performing in Nassau County’s “Holiday Spectacular” concert on Sunday, Dec. 1 at the Butler Building at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Garden City. Admission will be free, but tickets are required.

Free tickets are available at all Bethpage Federal Credit Union branches, as well as at the Administration Building at Eisenhower Park and the Aquatic Center.

The two-hour concert will begin at 4 p.m. All attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items, which will be collected by Island Harvest.

The Long Island Philharmonic was founded in 1979 by folk singer Harry Chapin in collaboration with Maestro Christopher Keene and several area business leaders. Since then, the orchestra has provided cultural and educational benefits of the highest level to the residents of Long Island and the surrounding boroughs.
