Local troupe to play at Port Public Library

The Port Washington Play Troupe, the oldest  chartered amateur theater company in the state of New York, will be presenting a concert performance of “Forever Plaid” at The Port Washington Public Library on March 10 at 7:30 p.m.  This is a free event. 

Forever Plaid tells the story of a close harmony “guy group” that sings 1950s songs such as “Three Coins in the Fountain”, “Heart and Soul” and “Love is a Many Splendored Thing.”

The Musical Director is David Barnett and Michael Santora will serve as director. Santora also stars as Francis, along with David Barnett as Smudge, Chad Lasky as Sparky and Jacob Glickman as Jinx.

Also, on Friday, March 18, the Port Washington Play Troupe & WCWP Radio present “Mythology Mixtape,” a pop opera-style concert fundraiser with hits from the 1980s to benefit the music department of LIU CW Post.

This will be performed at the Hillwood Recital Hall, LIU Post Campus, Tilles Center for the Performing Arts. 720 Northern Blvd, Brookville.

Jason Reese will provide musical direction, along with stage direction by Brian E. Long for the production, which was conceived and designed by Pamela Meadows. Richard Jacques and Kate LaValle star.

The group will also be presenting the musical “Once Upon A Mattress” this summer at The Landmark on Main Street.
