Mad science comes to Glenwood Landing

The Island Now

To the delight of all of the students at Glenwood Landing, the exciting Mad Science show visited the school on June 14 with the popular theme Up Up and Away. This wonderful, science-themed presentation combines a little bit of magic with a lot of science to generate a whole bunch of fun for everyone!

Kindergarten-fifth graders participated in exciting demonstrations and experiments involving chemical reactions, combustion, gravity, and centrifugal force. They also learned how air pressure can be used to launch a mini-rocket and how a vortex generator creates giant smoke rings. Plus, a few even took a ride on the Mad Science Hovercraft in just one hour!

Many thanks to Glenwood Landing SWES Director Audra Marcantonio for organizing this event and the Glenwood SCA for sponsoring this educational experience. Mad Science of Long Island offers after school enrichment programs, school assemblies, and other private events for children.
