Man arrested in stolen car

An Elmont man, driving a stolen car, was arrested last week after he provided a fake name to officers who pulled him over for traffic violations on the Northern State Parkway near New Hyde Park Road, according to state police.

Nestor Gonzalez, 30, of Elmont was stopped while driving a gray Honda Civic by troopers from the state police station in the Village of Lake Success, the news release said.

While speaking with the officers, Gonzalez initially provided a false name, police said.

When Gonzalez’s identity was later determined, officers then discovered that he did not have a drivers license, the news release said.

Officers then discovered the vehicle Gonzalez was driving was reported stolen, the news release said.

Gonzalez was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, criminal impersonation in the second degree and several traffic violations. He was held for arraignment in Nassau County 1st District Court.
