Mineola marching band raises money

The Island Now

The Mineola Mustang Marching Band held their annual car wash fundraiser on Saturday, July 27 at Mineola Middle School from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All proceeds from the car wash will be used towards their annual band camp, in which these hard-working students spend a week away from home learning their 2013 production, “Flight to a New World,” featuring the music of Antonin Dvorak’s, “New World Symphony.”

The car wash took in over $2,000 thanks to the support of the parents, staff, community and members.

As the premier performance ensemble in Mineola High School, the Mustang Marching Band will be representing the community in nationally televised events and performances throughout the year. You can see them during their fall season at numerous home football games, the Newsday Marching Band Festival and an array of competitions statewide – including a home competition at the Town of North Hempstead Park – Denton Avenue on Oct. 19, concluding at the New York State Championships in Syracuse on Oct. 26 and 27.
