Nassau County police arrested two Mineola men on Monday for allegedly beating another man on the head before stealing an unidentified amount of money and his iPhone.

Joel Salmeron, 21, of 490 Pennsylvania Avenue, was charged with second-degree robbery and criminal possession of a controlled substance, while Noe DeJesus Salmeron, 22, of 133 Lincoln Avenue, was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree possession of a forged instrument.

The pair were arraigned on Tuesday in 1st District Court in Hempstead.

At 5 a.m. on Monday, Joel and Noe DeJesus Salmeron grabbed an unnamed 38-year-old man from behind and struck him in the head, while the man was walking near Willis and Washington avenues, a county police news release said.

After striking the man, police said Joel and Noe DeJesus Salmeron stole an unspecified amount of cash and his iPhone.

Police said Joel and Noe DeJesus Salmeron knew the man they attacked from the neighborhood.

The stolen iPhone was recovered and returned the victim, but his money was not, police said.

Joel Salmerone was apprehended by officers on Willis Avenue and Noe DeJesus Salmerone was arrested at his home, police said.

Although Joel and Noe DeJesus Salmerone are related, it was unclear on Tuesday how they are connected, police said.
