Village of Munsey Park trustees unanimously approved a new local law on Wednesday to reclassify regulations regarding roofs from the building code to the zoning code.

“It just seems more appropriate to be in the zoning code and not the building code,” Village Attorney Paul Pepper said.

The change does not impact the language or requirements for a roof in Munsey Park.

Also at the meeting, officials introduced a local law to override the state-mandated 2 percent tax cap on the village budget.

Trustee Patrick Hance said Munsey Park has been doing this for the last few years.

“This is done every year to override the tax levy limit,” he said. “We are limited in a budget tax increase of less than 2 percent, unless the board votes to override.”

Officials also said they have hired a village public safety officer since the last board meeting, and are still investigating bid for a generator for the Village Hall.
