Museum to host music of early 20th century

The Island Now

In a concert at Nassau County Museum of Art on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 3 p.m., Gemini Journey — Diane Block on violin and Terry Batts on cello — explore music of the early 20th century, a creatively varied and fertile period that was also the time of the Golden Age of Illustration and the long career of Maxfield Parrish, whose works are presently on view at the Museum.

The Early 20th Century: A Mélange of Musical Landscapes demonstrates how the excesses of the late Romantic period gave way to leaner, radical new movements including modernism, nationalism, neoclassicism and jazz. Gemini Journey has frequently performed at Manhattan and Long Island venues and has delighted audiences in their previous appearances at the Museum.

Admission for Gemini Journey’s concert, The Early 20th Century: A Mélange of Musical Landscapes, on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 3 p.m. at Nassau County Museum of Art is $5 for members, $15 for nonmembers and includes museum admission. Register at nassaumuseum.org/events.
