Nassau Off-Track Betting to begin planning casino

Nassau County Off-Track Betting passed a resolution Monday to begin planning for a casino in Nassau County, according to David Chauvin, a spokesperson for the Nassau OTB.

Chauvin said the agency will begin work on a bond proposal to fund a casino that is to be selected by the Nassau County Off-Track Betting.

But he denied reports that the agency was eyeing a location in Westbury

“No decision has been made yet,” he said.

“It’s important to put this into perspective,” Chauvin added. “It’s still too early to say where the site will be.”

Nassau OTB had previously looked into its Race Palace in Plainview as a possible casino site, according to Long Island Business News, but stopped its plans after revelations that the building was unable to hold 500 gaming machines on its second floor.

The gaming facility is slated to have 1,000 video slot machines and is expected to open in 2015, according to Long Island Business News.
