A former midfielder on the New Hyde Park Memorial High School boys lacrosse team has been named the associate head coach of the men’s lacrosse team at Lafayette University.

Matt Musci, a Garden City Park native, had spent three seasons as an assistant coach under Lafayette head coach Jim Rogalski before receiving the promotion.

Musci will handle recruiting responsibilities and coach the Leopards’ offensive unit.

“It is my pleasure to announce Matt’s promotion within our coaching staff,” Rogalski said. “He is an important part of what we do here and is a true ambassador for the college and its lacrosse program.”

Musci graduated from Drexel University in 2007 and spent two seasons as the captain of the men’s lacrosse team while Rogalski served as an assistant coach.

Musci was selected to the all-county team on three occasions while playing at New Hyde Park.
