Playing at the Mitchel Athletic Complex, the Sixth Grade New Hyde Park Chiefs lacrosse team defeated the Oceanside Sailors, 8-5, raising the team’s early season record to 3-0. All the boys played and participated in the victory.
The Chiefs offense was on the move as they moved the ball up and down the field at against the Sailors. The scoring was provided by Chiefs midfielders Michael O’Connell (2 Goals, 1 Assist), Ryan Dieguez (2 Goals), Matt Sluka (1 Goal), Luke Baskind (1 Goal) and Thomas Albig (4 Assists). Michael LaGinestra and Nick Vitanza battled hard for ground balls for possession against Oceanside.
Chiefsf forwards Marc Chiappone (2 Goals, 3 Assists), Jalen Rivers, Mark Marinkovic, Dylan Vincenti and Ryan Calderone kept the heat on in the offensive zone, as defensemen Anthony Giunta, James Reardon, Nick Monteforte and Joe Tallini hammered the Oceanside attackers in front of a Chiefs’ goalie Mike Sinisi, who was cat-like in cage making seven saves on the day.
