NHP Dads Club cookout at Gladiators game

The Island Now

The Dad’s Club of New Hyde Park Memorial High School had its season opening cook out at Tully Park on Thursday, Sept. 19, as the New Hyde Park Gladiators took on the Golden Eagles of Bethpage.

The game started out with blue skies and a big crowd. New Hyde Park Memorial Principal Richard Faccio even stopped by to greet Dad’s Club President Sal Balducci.

The club was able to announce the 50/50 winner, Al Glueckert, the parent of a Bethpage student, who won $205, when dark thundering clouds rolled in to cancel the game by half time.

The money from the Dad’s Club fundraiser, is used for programs, scholarships and awards for the students at New Hyde Park Memorial. Last year the club gave out $6,500 in scholarships alone. New members are welcome at Dad’s Club meetings, held the first Tuesday of each month in the school library.
