NHP players honored by coaches

The New Hyde Park Memorial High School varsity baseball team capped off another successful year as deniors Fran Terrero (CF), Will Hickey (P) and Anthony Simeone (1B/P), along with junior catcher Anthony Vaglica were each honored at the Nassau County High School Baseball Coaches Awards Dinner at the Marriot Hotel in Uniondale. 

Terrero, a four-year starter on varsity, was an All-County selection for the second straight year. Terrero, who hit .458 this season, will be attending Monroe College this fall. 

 Lefties, Hickey and Simeone were each honored as All-Conference players while their battery mate Vaglica (four HRs, 19 RBIs) was an All-League selection for the first time. 

Simeone, a three-year starter with a .485 batting average and a 1.000 fielding % captured his second All-Conference award will now take his talents to St. John’s University. 

Hickey, a first-time All-Conference selection who missed his entire junior season due to injury, threw two shutouts in 42 innings pitched, had 48 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.17, will be heading south to play baseball at Virginia Wesleyan College.
