No apparent criminality with body found in Herricks woods, police say

There “appears to be no criminality” in determining the cause of death of a man whose body was discovered in Herricks on Monday, Nassau County Police said.

The body was found at about 1:40 p.m. in a wooded area near Old Searingtown Road and Searingtown Road, then taken to the county medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death, police said.

Police have not yet identified the victim, but said the body was of a male in his 50s.

The body was found wearing black pants, a tan olive jacket, a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue sneakers, police said. No further description was provided.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the identity of the victim to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
