North bests South in battle of Great Neck

Tyler Weiss connected with Yair Sarraf for four touchdowns and Brian Kahen threw 5-yard TD pass to Shaunen Kaiman midway through the second quarter to lead Great Neck North over rival Great Neck South in Nassau Conference V Saturday afternoon. 

After Ben Lee hit Aaron Hamooz on a 10-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to put the Rebels in front, Weiss found Sarraf for a 40-yard score and later connected on a 13-yard score as Great Neck North (3-2) went into halftime with a 20-14 lead. 

Lee also had a 1-yard touchdown run for Great Neck South, which fell to 0-5. 

Matt Tomazic, who went 3-for-4 on extra point attempts, kicked a 46-yard field goal to end the third quarter. Dago Rodriguez had 11 tackles and Kahen, Michael Torres and Sarraf had fumble recoveries for the Blazers. 

Great Neck North hosts Friends Academy (2-3) Saturday at 2 p.m., while South hosts Long Island Lutheran (2-3), also Saturday at 2 p.m.

South Side 21, Herricks 7: Steven DiMare threw a pair of touchdown passes and Alex Pickett had a 29-yard score to lead South Side (2-3) in Nassau Conference II Saturday. Mark Marciano had a 5-yard touchdown reception for Herricks, which fell to 1-4. Herricks heads to Carey (5-0) Saturday at 2 p.m.

Division 21, Manhasset 0: Fred Gray had 31 carries for 187 yards and three touchdowns and had a pair of interceptions to lead Division (2-3) in a Nassau Conference III game Saturday. Manhasset (1-4) hosts Bethpage (4-1) Saturday at 2:30 p.m.  

Sewanhaka 53, New Hyde Park 28: Jake Mellen threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns and Brenton Mighty rushed for 140 yards and one touchdown to pace Sewanhaka (2-3) in Nassau III Saturday. Tom Kemmett threw four touchdown passes for New Hyde Park, which fell to 0-5.  New Hyde Park heads to Glen Cove (3-2) Friday at 6 p.m.

East Rockaway 28, Carle Place/Wheatley 25: Mike Barbaro rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns, including a 2-yard TD with eight seconds left to give East Rockaway (2-3) the win Saturday in Nassau Conference IV. Lucas Golon rushed for a touchdown, had a 90-yard kickoff return for a TD and Andrew Hastings threw for a touchdown and ran for a 4-yard score for Carle Place/Wheatley, which fell to 1-4. Carle Place/Wheatley takes on Oyster Bay (1-4) Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Roosevelt 33, Mineola 0: Johnnie Aikens rushed for 212 yards and three touchdowns and Rob Hansen added a pair of rushing scores to lift Roosevelt (5-0) past Mineola (2-3) Saturday in Nassau Conference IV. Mineola heads to Cold Spring Harbor (0-5) Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Roslyn 42, St. Dominic 0: Alex Epprecht rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns, Adam Combs connected with Isaiah Hunter and Jordan Fishbach for TD passes, linebacker Danny Gould had a 25-yard strip-and-score, Thomas Davis had a 7-yard TD run and Fishbach had 10 tackles and a sack to lead Roslyn (5-0) in Nassau Conference V Saturday. Roslyn plays at Port Washington (5-0) Saturday at 2 p.m.

Chaminade 21, Archbishop Stepinac 14 (OT): Robert Speranza Jr. rushed for a 16-yard touchdown and John Tigh and Jack Graffagnino recovered fumbles in the end zone for Chaminade (6-0, 5-0) in a CHSFL Class AAA league game in White Plains Saturday afternoon. The Flyers host Holy Cross (4-2, 3-2) Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
