Sameera Khan, coordinator of the bariatric surgery program at North Shore University Hospital talks to one of the more than 1,500 people who visited the recent Health, Fitness & Sports Expo at Mitchell Field in Uniondale, sponsored by Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and the North Shore-LIJ Health System.
The fair was designed to highlight healthy lifestyle alternatives to replace fast food and chronic video game playing. The health system was on hand to provide HIV, glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings. There were also professionals providing information from across the health system, including representatives from: Nephrology, Infectious Disease, Ambulatory Services, the Lion’s Eye Bank, Home Care, CareConnect, Weight Management, Cardiac Services, Core Lab, Center for EMS, Orthopedics, Cancer, Franklin, Glen Cove, Southside and Zucker Hillside.
