Obama’s foreign policy right for world of 2012

The Island Now

As I have before noted, one may call the New York City hotline 311 and as necessary, speak to someone in 160 different languages.

In this part of the USA, we get to know all these people to a greater or lesser degree. We all have our native countries too.

During the last 20 years or so, the internet and other means of communication have become available to everyone worldwide.

Not so long ago, those in other countries were foreigners and now we are all neighbors. Computers and camera phones are everywhere.

The USA is unique among all the nations of the world and what our government does affects everyone everywhere. Using one country as an example, our president has indicated in effect that our government’s dealings with other nations must be transparent or to say ‘let there be light.’ This was criticized by the usual factions.

If there is to be any lasting peace and mutual respect, global relations have to be such as not to breed suspicion of some having a special ‘in’ and that all nations be considered equal just as we here as citizens are considered equal. Everyone on earth has the same creator. No matter what some may have a bent to believe, the time is now to continue the diplomacy our president has instituted and practices.

Much damage has been done by the misguided in the past and it will need time to heal. The best medicine is trust. What Wikileaks so aptly demonstrated is that some in our government have done things for which the USA cannot be proud.

The peoples of the world cannot be bullied by a huge military. This will never create trust and respect. There will always be no doubt some ‘disturbed’ minds but otherwise no one is inclined to attack what one respects.

Will you be voting only for yourself and special interest or for your country and the world?’
