The article on David Seidler winning the Oscar noted that he grew up in Great Neck but did not point out that his mother Doris Seidler was a long-time Great Neck resident until her death on October 31, 2010 at the age of 97.
Doris was a noted artist whose work has been exhibited and is in collections of major museums in the U.S. and in England.
No doubt her artistic temperament and accomplishments were positive influences on David’s career.
Doris had many friends in Great Neck and the metropolitan area. She was a compelling raconteur. Her intelligence, wit, and wonderful British manners will be missed by all who were privileged to know her.
