The Plandome Country Club’s annual Christmas luncheon raised more than $12,000 for the Manhasset Student Aid Association, which provides grants and other financial assistance to underprivileged Manhasset students seeking higher education.

“This donation will enable MSAA to support several more students in their dreams of a higher education,” said Jean O’Malley, the luncheon’s chairperson who is also the Manhasset Student Aid Association’s vice president of funding.

Each year, the Plandome Ladies Golf Organization which sponsors the event donates proceeds from the luncheon’s raffle ticket sales and vendor fees to a different local charity.

The Manhasset Student Aid Association, which was presented with a check during the Dec. 9 luncheon, will mark its 50th year within the community in 2015.

“It was such a delight to chair an event that benefitted something so dear to my heart,” O’Malley said.

Raffle prizes were donated by Antonino’s Italian Restaurant, Ayhan’s Mediterranean Marketplace & Cafe, Bayles Garden Center, Cafe Continental, Chez Josee, Chocolate Works, Daniel Gale Realty, Gino’s Pizzeria of Port Washington, Manhasset Jewelers, Noble Nails, Paul Anthony Haircutters, Poll Brothers restaurants, Vinyard Vines, Young’s Liquors and the Port Washington Country Club.
