Plandome Road repaving hits Heights

Construction will start on Monday to repave the section of Plandome Road that runs through Plandome Heights as part of the Plandome Road Visioning Project, Town of North Hempstead officials said.

Town spokesman Collin Nash said the work will take place during two overnight periods on Monday, July 15, and Tuesday, July 16, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and that traffic should not be effected by the road work.

Plandome Road is property of Nassau County, but the project was moved to the town through an intermunicipal agreement between Nassau County, North Hempstead and Village of Plandome Heights earlier this year.

Nash said the town is expecting to finish the entire Plandome Road Visioning Project before the school year begins in the fall.

Village of Plandome Heights Mayor Ken Riscica said in a statement that the road has been “filled with potholes” and “jarring” for motorists using Plandome Road.
