A Baldwin man was arrested in Roslyn Heights early Tuesday morning for violating a restraining order and for his involvement in the injury of a police dog who chased him in pursuit, police officials said.

Kareem Brown, 23, of 850 St. Lukes Place, was charged with two counts of first-degree counts aggravated family offense, three counts of criminal contempt and third-degree counts of injuring a police animal and criminal tresspassing, police said.

Police would neither confirm the location of the incident nor Brown’s relationship to the 20-year-old female victim, but the defendant allegedly fled the scene when the authorities were notified.

Third Squad officers and the county’s K-9 Unit responded and chased Brown to 22 Pearsall Place, where he was placed under arrest, officials said.

While in pursuit, police said K-9 Gehrig suffered injured on a fence that required immediate surgery.

Brown was arraigned Tuesday in 1st District Court in Hempstead.
