Rodberg to speak on health care

The Island Now

Reach Out America will present “The New Healthcare Law and You” for its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be Professor Leonard Rodberg, PhD, chair of the Queens College Urban Studies Department.

To counter the lack of information, misinformation and confusion about the Affordable Care Act, Reach Out America is providing an educational program to inform the community about “Obamacare.” What are its benefits? How does it strengthen Medicare? How does it affect young people, families and seniors? Why did the GOP leadership in the House of Representatives shut down the government in its attempt to abolish it?

Our guest speaker is eminently qualified to answer these questions and any others the audience may have. Rodberg was the founder of Physicians for a National Health Program and writes and speaks widely on health policy and health care reform issues.

Prior to the guest speaker, Reach Out America will have its regular meeting at 12:30 p.m. All are welcome. The meeting will beheld at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock, 48 Shelter Rock Road in Manhasset. Refreshments will be served. For information: 516-487-3786 or 516-484-5227.
