Roslyn band marches in Columbus parade

The Island Now

The Roslyn Marching Bulldogs had a busy Columbus Day weekend.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, they performed their show “The Sound of Music” at halftime during the Roslyn High School football game.

On Sunday, Oct. 13, the band competed at the U.S. Bands Competition hosted by Manhasset High School, where they placed first in their group. The weekend was capped off by marching up Fifth Avenue at the Columbus Day Parade in New York City. Many Marching Bulldog Band fans were there to cheer on the band.

The Marching Bulldogs were also at the Empire Cup State Championship at Mitchel Field in Uniondale on Sunday, Oct 20. They will then finish the season at the U.S. Bands National Championships, being held at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey on Saturday, Nov. 2.

The band has also been busy with its annual cake and pie sale, a fundraiser that helps support the band’s activities. Cakes and pies can be purchased or donated to the Interfaith Nutrition Network in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. To place orders, please contact Terri Kurtz at tlmkurtz@aol.com.
