Roslyn Chamber of Commerce president Goldman steps down

The Island Now

Lonnie Goldman officially resigned from his role as president of the Roslyn Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.

In an email to chamber members Friday, Goldman said he would be unable to continue serving due to a new job and increased parental duties.

“As Matthew gets older, there are more after school activities that he’s now participating in,” said Goldman, a New Hyde Park resident, referring to his son. “Whatever free time I had I have to give it all to him.”

The chamber president for the last six years, Goldman’s resignation took effect Sept. 30.

Goldman, an IT project manager with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, said the chamber has asked him to assist in choosing his successor, and called for volunteers to take on leadership roles.

He added that the chamber is expediting its typical election process, moving it up from the spring to ensure the chamber’s transition to new leadership.

“I will of course, be available to anyone and everyone to make the transition as seamless and as smooth as possible,” he concluded.
