Roslyn exacts revenge, edges Port

Roslyn’s perfect season went up in smoke with a loss at Port Washington two weeks ago. On Saturday, the Bulldogs earned a measure of revenge and the Nassau Conference V title, winning at Port, 15-14, Saturday afternoon. 

Thomas Davis rushed for 128 yards on 21 carries, scored a 1-yard touchdown and added a 2-point conversion, while Isaiah Hunter caught an 18-yard pass from Adam Combs on 4th-and-6 late in the second quarter to give Roslyn (7-1) a one-point lead it wouldn’t relinquish. 

The Bulldogs, who lost to Port Washington, 21-7, in Week 6, were led by Chris Snipes and Alex Epprecht, who made 11 tackles apiece, defensively. 

Great Neck South 37, St. Dominic 6: Aaron Hamooz scored a 65-yard touchdown, Ben Lee connected with Eitan Agagi on a 41-yard score and Anthony Ortiz and Anthony Pena added rushing touchdowns for Great Neck South (1-7) in Nassau Conference V Saturday. 

Jericho 14, Great Neck North 10: Brian Kahen connected with Yair Sarraf for a 40-yard touchdown and Matt Tomazic added a 40-yard field goal, but Great Neck North (3-5) couldn’t punch the ball in on four attempts from the goal line with three minutes remaining in Nassau Conference V Saturday at Jericho. Ben Wachtel had 25 carries for 197 yards and a 1-yard TD with nine minutes left in the fourth for the Jayhawks. 

Seaford 42, Mineola 0: Justin Cestro rushed for 214 yards and three touchdowns and Pat Bizzarro had 168 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries to lead Seaford to a school record 519 yards on the ground in Nassau Conference IV Friday night. Mineola (4-4), the No. 6 seed, will play at No. 3 West Hempstead in the quarterfinals Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Carle Place/Wheatley 21, Clarke 19: Lucas Golon had 21 carries for 106 yards and two touchdowns and also had three receptions for 31 yards and recovered a fumble recovery in Nassau Conference IV Saturday afternoon. Luis Costa had a pair of interceptions, including one he returned for a 21-yard touchdown to cap a 21-point second quarter for Carle Place/Wheatley, which finished 4-4. 

Floral Park 49, Manhasset 0: Connor Vidasolo threw a pair of touchdown passes to Brian Barry and Alex Cerrone, Josh Sanders rushed for two scores and John Corbett and Conor Horan added rushing scores to lead Floral Park in Nassau Conference III Saturday. Manhasset ended 1-7. 

Hewlett 44, New Hyde Park 12: Richie Lyons rushed for 104 yards and four first-half touchdowns and Jeremy Lewguillow and Alex Posner added rushing scores to pace Hewlett Friday night in Nassau Conference III. Tom Kemmett had a 3-yard rushing TD for New Hyde Park, which finished 0-8. 

Mepham 42, Herricks 7: Chris Durkin rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns, Tyler Davis had a pair of rushing scores and Anthony Santorelli had six tackles and two sacks to pace Mepham (4-4) in Nassau Conference II Saturday. Harry Shipko caught a touchdown pass from Chris Grau for Herricks, which fell to 1-7.

Chaminade 28, Xavier 0: Following a difficult loss at rival St. Anthony’s, the Flyers ended the regular season on a high note, beating Xavier, 28-0. Sean Cerrone was 4-of-5 for 76 yards and a touchdown pass to Joseph Bellantuono, while also rushing for a score for Chaminade (8-1), the No. 2 seed, which hosts No. 7 St. Joseph by the Sea in the CHSFL Class AAA quarterfinals Saturday at 1 p.m.
