Scouts direct traffic for pastor’s service

The Island Now

The North Shore Presbyterian Church held an ordination and installation service for Pastor Janice Moore-Caputo on Sunday, Sept. 22. At the request of Moore-Caputo, the scouts of Great Neck’s Troop 10 volunteered to direct traffic into the parking lot for the overflow attendance of parishioners and guests.

Following scouting’s commitment to community service, it was a task the Troop was more than happy to take on. Earlier this year, when the Troop’s meeting place was no longer available, Moore-Caputo graciously offered the Church’s facilities to the Troop.

Moore-Caputo has been associated with the North Shore Presbyterian Church for four years. Before joining the ministry in 2004, Moore-Caputo had a successful career in media marketing and management, serving the National Football League, Bravo Media and WE TV, among others.

The proud mother of five, and a grandmother, Moore-Caputo has been lead singer with a local band for 30 years. Her husband Robert Caputo is a member of the band, and a deacon of the church.

Boy Scout Troop 10 has been a fixture in Great Neck since its forming in 1915. Over the 98 years of activity, more than 2,000 boys and leaders have worn the Troop 10 patch.

It is non-denominational and membership is open to all boys at least 10 years of age or in fifth grade. For more information, e-mail djrosenstein@gmail.com or visit the troop website: troop10greatneck.freeservers.com.
