The Island Now

Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center is seeking Jewish teen athletes for its boys and girls soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, ice hockey, tennis and swimming teams for the 2016 JCC Maccabi Games.

This year, the JCC will compete at the games in St. Louis, Missouri, from July 31- Aug. 5, and in Stamford, Connecticut, from Aug. 7 – 12. Athletes must be between the ages of 13-16 by July 31, 2015 to participate.

The JCC Maccabi mission is to provide the structure for Jewish youth to participate in athletic, Jewish, cultural, education and social activities and to provide an appropriate, supportive environment for Jewish youth to associate in an atmosphere of fun, sportsmanship, democracy and peace. The goal is also to promote health and physical fitness, and participation in recreational and athletic activities.

Interested Jewish teens that fall within the appropriate age range may contact Philip Flynn, JCC sports and fitness director, at 516-484-1545, ext. 133 or PFlynn@jcca.org.
