The New Hyde Park Knights played at another Special Olympics Basketball Tournament held at Great Neck North High School’s gym on Saturday, May 11.

The NHP Knights team came ready to play with smiles on their faces waiting impatiently for the open ceremonies. Two Great Neck Spirit torch bearers did a great job leading the way in the Special Olympic opening ceremonies.

The event organizer Alan Someck, of Great Neck Spirit, did a terrific job running this event.

The NHP Knights team played two games against the Great Neck Spirit Team.

They did a fantastic job of passing, dribbling and shooting the ball coming out ahead with two game win.

Both teams had fun and played hard but in the end they all had smiles on their faces. The last game of the day was played against the Nassau County PAL.

The PAL team came on strong but the NHP Knights stepped it up to meet the challenge. It was a good match as both teams where excited to get a basket. It was a fast paced game with a lot of shots and hustle up and down the court but in the end the PAL came out ahead.

The head couch of the NHP Knights, Joe Abberton, would like to see more participants playing basketball. If you’re interested contact him by email at abbie9685@optonline.net
