St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church held a farewell reception last Sunday for Fr. Allan Sikorski, who has completed his five-year assignment as the parish’s chaplain.
Sikorski presided over the church’s 10:30 a.m. mass Sunday morning, his final service before his last day at St. Mary’s on June 26, and afterward met with congregants in the parish basement for brunch.
Efforts to reach Sikorski were unavailing.
St. Mary’s spokeswoman Eileen Symmons said Sikorski’s next assignment will be with St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church in Dix Hills.
Fr. Chris Costigan, Symmons said, will be Sikorski’s successor with the parish and will start next week.
