Temple Emanuel to host Band of L.I.

The Island Now

Stephen C. Widom Cultural Arts at Emanuel will present the Band of Long Island, in a concert entitled “Reflections 2016,” under the direction of Maestro Michael Flamhaft, on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at Temple Emanuel of Great Neck.

The concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., features “A Century of Great American Music,” with vocalist Jacques LeBas, lyric baritone, and selections by Lerner & Loewe, Richard Rodgers, Marvin Hamlisch, and nostalgic favorites dating back to 1916 (World War I Medley), the “Roaring 20s,” and the 1950s’ television series, “Victory at Sea” (10 themes).

BOLI, in its 20th year, appears regularly at Steppingstone Park and is the featured attraction, every summer, for the official Sousa Night concert at the Port Washington Sousa Band Shell.

The band appears in full uniform with all required percussion accoutrements, and is conducted by its founding director, Great Neck’s own Maestro Michael Flamhaft. BOLI is famous for playing a wide variety of music, with something for every taste.

Admission is free.

Temple Emanuel of Great Neck is located at 150 Hicks Lane. For further information, please call 516-482-5701.
