Tackapausha Museum

Open Thursdays-Sundays, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Tackapausha Museum offers a window into the varied natural habitats of Long Island, including plants and wildlife in different seasons. Visitors can see lively animal exhibits and monthly scheduled presentations that include birds of prey, reptiles, amphibians and small mammals. $3 adult/ $2 senior citizens and children ages 5-12; free for children under 5.

IHOP National Pancake Day

Tuesday, March 8, 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Guests all over the country are invited to celebrate the 11th Annual National Pancake Day at participating IHOP restaurants and enjoy a free short stack of Buttermilk pancakes. In return for the free pancakes, guests are asked to consider leaving a donation for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals(c) and other designated local charities.

Long Island Pet Expo

Friday, March 4  through Sunday, March 6

Friday, 4:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m., Saturday,  10:00 a.m. -7:00 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

 The Long Island Pet Expo is designed as a family oriented event to educate and entertain the public about the wonderful world of pets and responsible pet ownership while making available an outstanding shopping venue of products and services pertaining to pets and pet lovers. There will be demonstrations in the dog ring, cat agility demonstrations, the Rainforest Reptile Shows along with Birds, Ferrets, Alpacas and a petting zoo and pony rides. An important aspect of the Long Island Pet Expo is the Adoption and Rescue Agencies that participate to provide the public with the information on adoptions and responsible pet ownership. The public is welcome to bring their well-behaved leashed pets.

$12 adult; $5 Children 4-11 and children 3 and under are admitted free.

The Chocolate Expo 2016

Sunday, March 6, 2016 10:00 am – 7:00 pm 

Celebrate your passion… and celebrate life! Chocolate is truly one of life’s simple pleasures. Almost everyone loves chocolate! The Chocolate Expo, now one of the very largest chocolate events in the U.S., offers tastings & sales of chocolates, baked goods and more. The Expo event combines chocolate and food with a dash of fun such as unique exhibits, performances, demonstrations and/or celebrity appearances.  Online Tickets: Adults $15/Children $10 (Ages 2-12). Admission at the Door:  Adults $20/Children $15 (Ages 2-12).

Celebrate Women’s History Month by learning about Rachel Carson! As a well-known environmentalist and writer, Rachel believed in the preservation of our environment and living in harmony with our surroundings. Her work helped promote a new age of environmental awareness in the United States. Join us to learn about her impactful career and create a piece of art using natural materials to honor her legacy. Ages: 5 and up. Fee: $3 with museum admission ($2 LICM members).

Discover the magical night sky in the indoor, inflatable Starlab Portable Planetarium. Following the 30-minute sky show, stay for a variety of astronomy crafts.  Dress for the outdoors and hope for a clear night: if conditions allow, we’ll see our moon shadows and “connect the dots” of the real Big Dipper above the Preserve’s Great Lawn. Nighttime and Daytime Programs:  $5 per person. Parking: $10 per car or free with Membership Pass. Ages 4+. All children must be accompanied by adult.
