With more than 20 years as a stand-up comedian, Tom Papa has found success in film, television and radio as well as on the live stage.  His second hour stand-up special, “Tom Papa: Freaked Out,” was directed by Rob Zombie and named one of the 10 Best Comedy Albums of 2013 by Laughspin.com. He can be seen alongside Clive Owen in Steven Soderbergh’s, “The Knick” on Showtime and hosts the hit SiriusXM show, “Come to Papa.”

2)  The Gipsy Kings

It has been 25 years since the Gipsy Kings’ self-titled debut album — a record that became certified gold and platinum around the globe, introducing millions of listeners to a unique, irresistible blend of traditional flamenco styles with Western pop and Latin rhythms. 3)  The Shadow Box

Tuesday, April 26 – Sunday, May 1, various times

Directed by Dave Groom, Shadow Box is about three terminal cancer patients dwelling in separate cottages on a hospital’s grounds. They are attended and visited by family and close friends: Agnes and her mother Felicity, estranged further by the latter’s dementia; Brian and Beverly, whose marital complications are exacerbated by Brian’s new lover, Mark; and Joe and Maggie, unready for the strain of Joe’s impending death and its effect on their teenage son.

4) Mike Epps

Friday, April 22, 8 p.m. 

Since his big-screen breakthrough in 2000’s Next Friday, stand-up comedian and actor Mike Epps has been seen in major releases, including “Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins,” “All About the Benjamins.” “Hancock” and “Next Day Air.” Epps’ HBO comedy special, “Inappropriate Behavior,” was one of the network’s top-rated, hour-long specials of 2005.  This year Epps can be seen in “Meet the Blacks,” and as Richard Pryor in “Nina,” a film about Nina Simone.

5)  Gnarly Karma – Nectar – The Gray

Thursday, Apr. 28, 8 p.m.

The Space at Westbury will host three Long Island-based bands Thursday: Necter, the acoustic-pop duo based of Samantha Raia and Brianna Martinsen; Gnarly Karma, a lyrical-jam/rock band in the vein of Dave Matthews Band, Sublime and Mumford & Sons; and The Gray, a four-piece band promoting their debut EP “Ladies! Ladies! Ladies!” blending genres of rock, pop and funk.

6)  Alton Brown Live: Eat Your Science

Thursday, April 28, 8 p.m. 

In “Alton Brown Live: Eat Your Science” the follow-up to the smash “Edible Inevitable” tour, fans can expect more comedy, talk show antics, multimedia presentations and music (yes, he sings), but Brown is adding a slew of fresh ingredients including new puppets, songs and bigger and potentially more dangerous experiments in two hours of pure entertainment.

7)  The SubDudes

Thursday, April 28, 7:30 p.m.

Over the course of 25 years and 10 albums, the SubDudes have become one of America’s national music treasures. The New Orleans-formed group is a living encapsulation of American music, stirring together meaty grooves and jazzy dynamics, soulful R&B swagger, easy vocal harmonies, cheeky rock ‘n’ roll attitude and folky social consciousness – and some of the sharpest musicianship and ensemble playing from any five musicians.
