Broadway’s tallest tapper takes to the stage – dancing, singing and tale-telling. The nine time Tony Award-winner takes an autobiographical stroll, celebrating 50 plus years of big time showmanship! From his arrival in New York City as a fresh-faced kid from Texas, through his most popular roles on stage and screen, to his ascension as one of Broadway’s most accomplished director-choreographers.

A Concert with The Platters and The Drifters

Sunday, April 17, 3 p.m.

In 1953, singer Herb Reed put together a group of four singers called The Platters. By 1955 the ground-breaking blockbuster “Only You” (and You Alone) hit the charts.  Some of the songs you will hear are: Only You, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes and Great Pretender. Formed in 1953 by lead singer in the Dominoes, Clyde McPhatter, and Ahmet Ertegun, The Drifters had more than 50 hits. Some of the songs: There Goes My Baby, Stand By Me, and Under the Boardwalk.

Selena’s 45th Birthday Tribute Concert

Saturday, April 16, 8 p.m.

In tribute to what would have been Selena’s 45th birthday, Genessa & The Selena Experience and special guests Los Cintron and the music of Linda Linn ,celebrate the life of the Queen of Cumbia and the music that she left behind.  Favorites such as “Amor Prohibido,” “No Me Queda Mas,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” and “Techno Cumbia.”  Genessa & The Selena Experience began performing in 2015, 20 years after Selena’s death.

Spring Dance Adelphi: Lar Lubovitch

Saturday, April 16 & Sunday, April 17, 2 & 7:30 p.m.

The Department of Dance will present a piece by one of America’s most highly acclaimed choreographers, Lar Lubovitch.  Lar’s dances are renowned for their musicality, rhapsodic style and sophisticated formal structures. His radiant, highly technical choreography and deeply humanistic voice have been acclaimed throughout the world. The program will also feature works choreographed by Frank Augustyn, Orion Duckstein and other members of the faculty.

Wendy Liebman has been a regular on late night television, including Carson, Fallon, Letterman, Kimmel, Ferguson and Leno. Recently, she made it to the semifinals of America’s Got Talent. She has done 1/2 hour specials for HBO and Comedy Central, and her first hour, “Wendy Liebman Taller on TV” premiered on Showtime in November. Wendy has been the recipient of The American Comedy Award for Best Female Comedian.

The Lap of Luxury: The Emergence of the Cruise Ship Industry

Sunday, April 16, 2 to 3 p.m.

The cruise-ship endeavor as glorified in books, plays, and movies. Houston and Diana Heinlein perform “in the style of radio drama” a touching tale about missionaries returning to a new life in America; romance, music, and comedy from Broadway — including a beautiful scene from Noel Coward’s epic Cavalcade; and a ridiculously funny moment by Christopher Durang in which a ship’s captain attempts to conduct a wedding and a burial at sea simultaneously.

With classic hits like Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In, Up, Up and Away, One Less Bell To Answer, Wedding Bell Blues, You Don’t Have To Be A Star (To Be In My Show), these lead singers of legendary soul-pop group The 5th Dimension have sold millions of records. They have received seven Grammy Awards, shared the bill with Frank Sinatra at Caesars Palace and enjoyed starring roles on television and stage.
