Three men charged with participating in a violent Mineola home invasion that led to a police chase on the Long Island Expressway have been indicted, acting Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas announced Thursday.

After pushing their way into the victim’s Lincoln Avenue home at 2:58 p.m. on Nov. 17, two of the men “punched and kicked” the victim in the face and torso before the three took a safe and fled in their vehicle, according to Singas’ office.

She said that shortly after receiving a radio call, police were able to track the suspects’ car headed north on Willis Avenue toward Jericho Turnpike. The officers followed the vehicle onto the Long Island Expressway, where the suspects crashed into a livery cab after exiting onto Route 106/107, county prosecutors said.

The three men – Malik Taylor, 21, of Medford; Mark Coleman, 23, of Selden; and Arlene Morel, 22, of Bay Shore – are each charged with first-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree burglary and grand larceny in the third degree. Taylor was also charged with motor vehicle violations, Singas’ office said.

“These defendants are accused of breaking into someone’s home, then beating, kicking, and robbing their victim,” Singas said in a statement. “Everyone in this county has a right to feel safe and protected – especially inside their own home. I thank the Nassau County Police Department for their quick action in pursuing and apprehending these suspects.”

Bail for Taylor, Coleman and Morel was set at $100,000, $500,000 and $250,000, respectively, cash or bond, officials said. The men are due back in court April 2.

Assistant District Attorney Martin Meaney is prosecuting the case.
