The Village of East Hills announced Friday two four-year trustee positions will be on the ballot in the General Village Election on Tuesday March 15, 2016.

Trustee positions currently held by Manny Zuckerman and Clara Pomerantz will be up for election, Village Attorney Bill Burton said.

Zuckerman and Pomerantz will be running for re-election, Burton said. No other candidates have been announced.

Zuckerman has served as a trustee since 2000, and has been the village’s deputy mayor since 2010, Burton said.

He will be running for his fifth term as trustee.

Burton said Pomerantz was appointed to her trustee position in 2010 after former trustee Linda Nathanson moved to Florida.

In 2011, Pomerantz run in an election to fill the remainder of Nathanson’s term, which lasted until 2012, Burton said.

Running unopposed in 2011, Pomerantz retained her trustee position, Village Clerk-Treasurer Donna Gooch said.

Gooch said Pomerantz received 1,709 votes in 2011.

Zuckerman and Pomerantz both were elected on the Unity Party line in 2012, Burton said.

They were opposed by Matthew Weiss, who ran on the East Hills Advocacy Group Party ticket, and Mitchell J. Winn, who ran on the Mitchell J. Winn Committee Party.

Burton said 1,530 voters cast ballots in 2012.

Zuckerman received 814 votes, Pomerantz received 891 votes, Weiss received 754 votes and Winn received 144 votes, Burton said.
