Village of GN court does listen to defendants

The Island Now

On Thursday, Feb. 7, I read a letter to the editor from Mr. Robert Draper in reference to Great Neck Traffic Court.

I must take exception to his letter. I, too, received a ticket for passing a stopped school bus. I tried to explain to the Officer that the lights were not flashing red or yellow and no children were getting on or off the bus. He gave me the ticket, while insisting that the lights were on. I resolved to fight this in Court.

[Village of Great Neck] Judge Richard Kestenbaum heard my case and listened very carefully to my testimony. He also heard my wife’s testimony, and when it was over said that he was reserving judgment, A few weeks later, I received notice that the court had decided in my favor, and dismissed the case.

Apparently, Judge Kestenbaum does listen.

Not all defendants are guilty in Great Neck Traffic Court.
