Village of Roslyn trustees last Monday approved a $4,659,296 budget for 2015-16 that represents a $223,223 increase in spending from last year.
The budget has a total tax levy of $3,347,951, a slight decrease from the $3,355,951 levy the village carried in 2014-15, due primarily to a $27,124 increase in the village’s overall property assessment to $10,824,325.
Roslyn is anticipating $1,311,345 in non-tax revenue and plans to use $40,000 from its fund balance to balance the remaining revenues.
Among the highest expenses listed in the village’s budgetary document are in its $467,323 in street and sidewalk maintenance, which includes more than $326,000 in salaries for its laborers and public works officials.
But employee benefits are expected to decrease $13,943 from a year ago, to $487,500.
The village also plans to spend $20,000 on sand and salt supplies for snow removal, a $10,000 increase from 2014-15.
Roslyn is also on the hook for $879,353 in principal payments from various outstanding bonds, a rise of more than $100,000 from last year.
About $90,000 worth of revenue from metered parking throughout the village is expected in the next fiscal year, as is $78,000 in parking lot permits and another $90,000 in various penalties.
