Village of Roslyn votes to set construction start times later in the day

Construction crews will now have to wait a little bit longer to begin their daily work in the Village of Roslyn.

That’s because the village’s board of trustees on Monday approved an amendment to its village code prohibiting work until 9:30 a.m.

Previously, construction was outlawed between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. from Monday through Saturday, with no work allowed on Sundays or legal holidays, according to Chapter 340, Section 23 of the village code.

The law pertains to all zoning districts within the village and lists “excavation, demolition, or construction work, repairs, painting, installation of equipment, electrical work or plumbing work,” both interior and exterior, among prohibited activities.

However, repairs and maintenance may be conducted “insofar as such does not make noise or disturb residents in the immediate vicinity,” the law says.
