Rob Villegas is the senior tennis instructor at the Parkwood Tennis Center.

A former NCAA Division I player and coach at St. John’s University, he has been employed by the Great Neck Park District for over 18 years.

Villegas works mostly with the Women’s leagues, which remain  very successful thanks to Villegas’s excellent coaching and instruction, but also gives private lessons both to adults and children.

The women’s A-1 Team is competitive and remains at the top of their game. They were league champions for three consecutive years from 2004 through 2006.

One of the women’s team players, Elona Weiner, gives Villegas credit for raising their level of play.

“He possesses great leadership skills and helps promote greater interest in playing tennis in our community,” Weiner said. “By developing new programs and teaching new players how to build up their tennis game, we learn new skills continuously while having a lot of fun on the courts. We are lucky to have him.”

Orly Victory, another team member states, “Rob’s uncanny ability to identify even the smallest issue in technique is incredible.  His researching and implementing new and rousing drills have clearly led to many of us experiencing marked personal development and improvement. We are very fortunate to have had Rob as our pro in Great Neck over the last two decades with his forward-thinking instruction, discussions and astute attention to detail”.

The Tennis Center offers a variety of programs for every level.  For more information, call the Parkwood Tennis Center at 829-9050.
