Vote yes to bring GN library into 21st century

The Island Now

On behalf of the Great Neck Historical Society, I would like to urge everyone to come out and vote yes for the library referendum.

I’m sure that there were those who wanted the library to stay in what is now Great Neck House, and didn’t see the necessity to create the 1970s structure on Bayview. The functions of the libraries have changed over time, and now the library is not just a place to check out books, it is a community resource.

What was an innovative structure in the ‘70s is now behind the times and no longer serves the needs of Great Neck. It is time to show some pride in our community, and give Great Neck the library that it deserves; the equal of those we see in neighboring communities.

Let’s vote yes for our children, vote yes for a better community room, vote yes for a more accessible Great Neck history room. Let’s vote yes to bring our library into the 21st Century
