Vote yes to maintain legacy of excellence

The Island Now

On Tuesday, Oct. 25, we, the people of Great Neck, finally have the wonderful opportunity to decide, once again, that we are a community dedicated to a standard of excellence for our children, our grandchildren and ourselves. We will vote “yes” for a renewed library.

The population of Great Neck is ever changing. We were part of that change when we moved here in 1965 and our newest resident from China, Korea, Persia, Latin America or Queens is part of that change. Each of us moved here for the fine schools, parks, library system, quality of life and easy access to the city.

We found a legacy from those who came here before us. A legacy that is represented in buildings and public spaces of substantial value, administered by professional staffs of high ability and integrity. It is now our obligation to renew, to rebuild our great Library.

When given the opportunity, the people of Great Neck always have risen to that challenge. Let us demonstrate to our children that we, too, know that we must honor our traditions. That we know how to pass the torch of excellence to the next generation.

On Tuesday, Oct. 25, we will vote yes for a renewed library. Please vote “yes.”
