W.P.’s Brandon Ray re-elected to Scouts board

The Girl Scouts of Nassau County recently elected 17 board of directors for the 2016-2018 term during the 51st Annual Meeting on May 16. 

The panel of Board Members includes Williston Park resident Brandon V. Ray, who was elected to serve another term as a member-at-large of the Board of Directors.

The new board consists of life-long Girl Scouts, community leaders, nonprofit and corporative executives, and many board veterans.

 “We are thrilled to have many of our past Board of Directors join us for another term and welcome aboard the new members who we know will make wonderful additions,” said Wanda Jackson, president of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Board of Directors. “We are confident this fantastic group of community leaders will help our organization’s mission: to help Nassau County girls build their courage, confidence and character and make the world a better place.”

Ray is the regional director of external affairs (Long Island) for AT&T and serves as AT&T’s representative to local government and local community organizations. In this capacity he leads and implements the company’s local governmental public policy initiatives by developing and executing strategic legislative and public affairs tactics and strategies.

Ray attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. where he earned his bachelor of Business Administration-Management in May of 2004. 

Chosen as one of a select group of promising leaders, he was accepted into the National Urban Fellows Inc. fellowship program and in 2007 earned a masters degree in Public Administration from CUNY- Baruch College School of Public Affairs as a National Urban Fellow. 

Ray also had the privilege of interning in the office of the president of the National Urban League, Marc H. Morial, in New York City.

 Ray is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated Kappa Xi Lambda Chapter, Urban League of Long Island Young Professionals, Howard University Alumni Association and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated’s MLK Memorial Internal Fundraising Committee.

Ray is a member of Union Baptist Church in Hempstead where he serves as a member of the Board of Trustees. As a member of Mentor New York’s Leadership Council he continues to develop his leadership skills on behalf of his community and aspires to continue making a difference in the public policy arena. 

Ray resides in Williston Park, NY and with his wife Alicia.
