The Wheatley School’s Adena Bernot has signed a letter of commitment to continue her impressive academic and soccer career at Bates College, in the NESCAC Conference, the school announced this week.

Bernot is a returning senior captain for the Wildcats and a returning “All-Class 2014” and “All-Conference 2013” member of the varsity soccer team who helps to organize practices and takes care of pre-game responsibilities.

“As our most complete player, she performs at the highest level on the field and continually adds spirit and charisma, keeping the team motivated and enthused,” a Wheatley press release stated. “She has been a major contributor on our 2013, 2014 and 2015 “back to back to back” Nassau County Championship Girls Soccer Teams.

This year, Bernot was named “All-County 2015” and “League Most Outstanding Player,” was selected “All State Player 2015” and was voted the recipient of the prestigious “Sue Link Scholarship” for on field and academic excellence, all the while leading the team to a  9-1 League AB 3 record and championship.

Bernot’s outstanding transcript speaks for itself. She is an award-winning musician, playing viola, having scored in the “A” range in NYSSMA and having received Gold and Silver medals as a member of our Honors String Ensemble. Last year, she received the American Chemical Society Award for Outstanding Achievement in High School Chemistry and she also received the distinction “AP Scholar with Honors”.

She also has extensive community service and volunteer experience as a member of the school’s National Honor Society.

In March, Bernot signed her Letter of Intent to attend Bates College to compete in soccer.
