An East Meadow woman was arrested and charged in Mineola early Thursday morning after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend with a pair of scissors following an argument, police officials said.

Alveena Chaudry, 24, of 48 Fairview Avenue in East Meadow was charged with second-degree counts of assault and menacing, as well as fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon, police said.

According to detectives, Chaudry got into an argument with her boyfriend at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday over the state of their relationship while seated in a car between Sheridan Boulevard and Raff Avenue in Mineola.

When the argument escalated, police said Chaudry took out a pair of scissors from her pocketbook and stabbed the 40-year-old man in the right shoulder.

The victim then exited the vehicle and entered his residence on Raff Avenue, whereupon Chaudry followed, went into his kitchen and pointed three knives at him, police said.

The victim called out to his friend, who was upstairs, and Chaudry fled the scene, police said. He was treated for a non-life-threatening puncture would at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola.

Chaudry was arrested in East Meadow without incident at 12:55 a.m., police said. She was arraigned Thursday at 1st District Court in Hempstead.
