After reading the letter titled “Bigotry, hatred of Obama behind attack” regarding the splashing of green paint on the Lincoln Monument in last week’s edition of the Williston Times I feel compelled to write.
Mr. Bedell states he feels this act was a most sinister conspiracy that was perpetrated to undermine race relations in America. He further states he believes the act was committed as an attack on President Obama because of his stance on race.
As a caveat he explains for the uninformed that Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation to free our American brothers. He further stated that he feels the purpose of using green paint is symbolic of greed and envy used to cover up inferior feelings and try to deny our rights to the American dream.
In reality a Chinese woman, Jia M.Tian with a Chinese Passport traveling on an expired visa has been linked to the vandalism at the Lincoln Monument as well as other incidents including the defacing of the Washington National Cathedral, a statue outside the Smithsonian headquarters on the National Mall as well as a statue of Martin Luther on Thomas Circle in downtown Washington,
Washington D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said Tian has potential “mental health issues” and it’s still not clear what inspired the vandalism
Bigotry, hatred of Obama behind attack? After all the facts came in I don’t think so.
Mr. Bedell ended his letter with the following, “So shame on the bigots.”
